AL PATTI’S & THE MANOS
"Powder River” is playing at the Manos Theater in this 1953 view of East Philadelphia Street taken from the Dunlop Tire store at 556. The Hub Café, R & S Motors, Dean’s Diner, and Steiners Market operate across Philadelphia Street. This was the same year Albert Patti bought the Plaza Restaurant, a piece of whose sign cuts into the image next to the Manos marque.

Patti’s Bar was up and running when Indianans lined up to see “The Robe” at the Manos Theater in 1954.
1955
AL PATTI’S & THE MANOS
“Straight from the nut house,” Mad Dr. Morris and his Dungeon of Death packed a crowd at the Manos Theater in 1955 with a spook show “So Scary – We bet girls can’t take it!” To be fair, the show also encouraged girls to bring their boyfriends to “learn if he is a man or a mouse.” The photo shows the 1924 front building that was built with the theater to include upstairs apartments behind a façade of six Corinthian pilasters.
1979
AL PATTI’S & THE MANOS
Patti’s neon sign had been replaced by backlit plastic by the time the “North Avenue Irregulars” played at the Manos Theater in 1979. This was the year Manos Enterprises bought the Regency Twin Cinemas opened at the Regency Mall in 1970, and the Indiana Mall’s Cinema IV. The Manos Theater closed a year later.
